Conference Overview

We are excited to welcome members to Syracuse - Home of the New York State Fair - for the 46th Annual NYSOBBA conference!

Our Agenda Committee has been working hard to bring you educational and resource packed sessions. You will have the opportunity to network with Bursars, Student Account Directors, loan collectors, Financial Aid Administrators, and other higher education administrators and staff about projects, problems, trends, procedures, software packages and much more. The NYSOBBA conference covers the many policy, technical, and management issues impacting student financial services and student operations on campus.

We are very excited to be welcoming Michael Sgro to speak on 'Empathy as a Superpower' on June 10th, 2024! Do not miss this interactive session where Coach Sgro will illustrate the real magic and power of Empathy in a business and professional context. Too many colleagues, students and stakeholders are stressed out and we will weave together the importance of recognizing where someone is at to conduct more effective business communication and teamwork.

In addition to the session with Coach Sgro, we look forward to welcoming a diverse pool of speakers who plan to share their experiences, solutions, and best practices in a variety of areas such as collections, payment processing, new technologies, compliance, and customer service. As always, opportunities are offered throughout the conference to network with colleagues, speakers, and exhibitors.

In addition to educational sessions, we will mix in some fun! Sunday afternoon will include a Golf Scramble for anyone looking to try out the sport and for those not interested can try their hand at a 'Not-at-all-like-a-real-Casino Experience". Monday evening will include a fun walk while Tuesday evening we will be bringing the State Fair experience to you! Get ready to share in some carnival fun!

Located in New York's largest hub for shopping, dining and entertainment, this hotel is located on the site of the Destiny USA shopping center. It is located within five miles of the Syracuse airport as well as three miles from the Syracuse University campus and minutes from downtown. The free hotel shuttle covers the airport and a five-mile radius. The Embassy Suites is also less than four miles from the Amtrak station. Rooms offer views of the New York State Fairgrounds and Onondaga Lake.

Take 'A Swing Toward Greatness' by joining us for The Richard Augustine Golf Outing to Support the John G Karrer Scholarship Fund!

We are calling all conference attendees to join us in a fun-filled afternoon. We welcome those who are first time golfers wanting to try out their skills, anyone who enjoys belly laughs, birdie pros and anyone else looking to have a great time! This is a Scramble Format, where each player is assigned to a team of four players (YES, you can sign up a team), where each member of the team hits their ball throughout the match. The best shot is chosen on each play and that is where the next swing for all players is taken from! So no need to worry if you have never played before, your team will help you, and who knows, you may even be the next 2024 NYSOBBA Golf Champion awarded the green jacket!

NYSOBBA Scholarship Basket Auction

Help us, help as many college-bound students as possible!

Support NYSOBBA’s Annual Basket Auction held in Albany, New York.

All proceeds benefit the scholarship fund. We encourage all members, schools, and vendors to donate.

If you do not have time to make a basket, but would still like to help, please consider donating.
